How does this filter differ from the Classic Series Particle filter?

Classic DualProtection filters feature a highly-porous, lightweight carbon mesh that is extremely efficient at removing both particle and gaseous (odors, exhaust, smoke odors, and chemicals) pollutants from the air. Whereas Classic Particle filters are highly efficient in the removal of particle pollutants like pollen, dust, mold, viruses, and fine smoke particles.

Blue Air Filter Specification
The Blue Air filters work very well and filter down to 1 micron. I have noticed that several marketers are selling knock offs which I doubt have the same filtering specs. It would be interesting to see the competition publish data.

new filter for treasured blue air classic
when I bought my Blue Air purifier classic 400 series many years ago for my NYC apt -it was the best decision, and I have benefitted ever since. I recently purchased a new dual protection filter for my treasured blue air classic and am happy to recognize the quality and dependability of the Blue air purifiers

Foul smell with new filter
Received new filter, replaced in unit and within hours a foul odor started to fill the air. Like stale alcohol. Turned off purifier and the smell went away. Turned back on and the same odor filled the room again.

Classic
I have used this product continuously for 7 years. It is in the bedroom and runs on hi setting. It never fails. It does not remove odors as well as expected. Sadly, My last experience ordering filters was disappointing —tedious, slow and products arrived damaged.
